4th Place Finish on July 19

The 21 GAM team was back this weekend at Colorado National Speedway for the Tower’s & First Responders night.

For the last two weeks, the team worked hard to go over every inch and detail of the car to make sure everything was set. Going into the weekend, we felt good about where the car was - and big Rick even flew in to support us through the night. Among many talents, he’s a tire genius!

We started off mediocre in practice. The car felt fast but I just couldn’t seem to get a good handle on it, it just didn't have the feel I was looking for. All around, the car just wasn’t cooperating. We just about threw the kitchen sink at it…we were trying everything we could think of to get the car to handle. Big thanks to my friends Mike Gallegos, Nathan Gasser and John Seely who came by to help out the 21 crew as we worked to find speed and figure out why the car didn’t want to handle.

We qualified P4, behind several wicked fast cars, and we had our work cut out for us. We started the dash P2 and ended with a P5 finish - it was a good clean race.

We started in P2 again for the main but I knew we didn’t have the car we hoped for. My main goal was to keep it clean, finish as strong as I could and avoid any damage to the car.

Around 7 or 8 laps into the 30 lap main, I, along with several others, spun mid-corner. I’m grateful that no one piled in and there wasn’t major damage to the nine-ish cars that ended up spun in the corner.

Each restart felt strong, the car had some speed, I just couldn’t keep a handle on it. Again, I’m just really grateful for no major carnage or additional damage to the car. We finished in P4, ending our night as best we could. All around, it was a good race but wish we had been more competitive.

As I mentioned, this race was the Tower’s & First Responders night at CNS, so I want to take this opportunity to shoutout one of our sponsors: Denver West Towing.

Denver West Towing is at the racetrack every single weekend putting in the work to make the event possible. Not only that, they offer incredible support to me and the 21 team helping to make race nights easier on the crew. Big thanks to Rob, Stormy and the Denver West Towing team!

Our next race is August 2 and we have our work cut out for us. As of writing this post, we spent all day Sunday unloading and taking apart the car. The 21 team will be working very hard to go through car with a fine tooth comb. And we're looking forward to seeing ya'll in a few weeks.
