Racing is our way of life
You could say racing is in my blood, it’s a way of life.
Our family’s race team, Ribit Racing, has been around for more than 70 years. In the 1950s, my grandpa, Tom Canty drove a dirt car in upstate New York. In the 1970s, my uncle, Bill Canty, drove a Late Model in Englewood, Colorado and in the Southwest Tour. Through the 1980s and 90s, my parents, Ray Jones and Nikki Canty-Jones, drag raced in Douglas, Wyoming and at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colorado.
And then, it was my turn and Ryan Jones Racing was born.
At 4 1/2 years old, I began racing a quarter midget in Erie, Colorado, and eventually traveled as far as California and Ohio. My family traveled together with our motorhome and trailer, rain or shine, to get to more than 10 states through my 11 years behind the wheel of a quarter midget. I am proud to have earned several national championships in quarter midgets.
In 2012, at age 14, I began racing in the INEX Legend series. My home track is Colorado National Speedway in Erie, Colorado, but have also raced in Wyoming, Nebraska and Nevada. In the Legend, I earned rookie of the year honors, as well as state championships two times. We also earned quick times, heat race wins and main event wins at every track we raced at.
In 2024, we started a new class and I got behind the wheel of a Grand American Modified. My first race out, I took home a sweeping win - and since then, we've continued to learn and be a top finisher in the series.
Racing is a way of life and through every step of the way, I am lucky enough to have had nothing but support from my family: grandparents, parents, fiance and some very special crew members who are now part of the family too.
About Me
Beyond the racetrack, I'm a normal 26 year old. I work as a construction manager for Tinker Homes since 2020 and have managed more than 12 custom home builds throughout the state of Colorado.
Prior to that, I went to Midland University, in Fremont, Nebraska on a soccer scholarship - and still like to play in local leagues. I earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, with concentrations in Marketing and Management.
My fiance and I enjoy paddle boarding, pickle ball and like to take our dog, Scout, on fun adventures every chance we get. Oh - and stay tuned, we are finishing the 2024 race season with a bang - a destination wedding in Amalfi Coast, Italy!
