Another Great Race Day

The 21 team had another strong race day on August 1 at Colorado National Speedway. Earlier in the week, we rented the track for practice and put down some solid laps, so even though Saturday was brutally hot, I felt confident heading into the day.

That confidence didn’t last long. The first practice was rough - we were slow, the car wasn’t handling, and nothing felt the way I expected. We made several adjustments and gradually got the car closer to where it needed to be. In qualifying, we put together some good laps and came away with P2.

The schedule was packed with late models, legends, Bandoleros, and GAMs, so we had a long wait between qualifying and our first main. I started P7 in a tough field, but I was able to make some strong passes and hold my own to finish P3. I’d always rather win, but a podium is nothing to complain about. Hats off to Forest Smith — he drove a hell of a race and took his second win of the season.

Not long after, we lined up for the second main. I started P6 on the outside and was ready. It wasn’t a perfect race, but I drove hard and brought home a P4.

The car never quite handled the way I wanted throughout the night, but I’m glad we came home without any major carnage.

A highlight of the night was the amazing crowd. It was a big race night with the CARS Tour, so the fans really showed up! It's so much fun to race in front of a big crowd and even more, a crowd that really loves racing. Tons of people came by for autographs and we had several kids get in the drivers seat to see how it felt - mini racers in the making!

Not only that, but we had tons of friends and family hanging out at our trailer all afternoon. We had family in town from out of state, Arizona and Nebraska, and tons of our regulars too! We were literally jam-packed and I'm so grateful for the love and support we receive week in and week out.

We’ve got work to do over the next couple of weeks, but we’ll be back on August 15. Can't wait to see you then - and don't forget that we always have 21 merch for purchase at our pit!
