Fear No Rain: August 2 Recap
For the last several weeks, we've been struggling to get the car to handle just right – and I have to admit, I was getting a bit frustrated that we just couldn't seem to get it figured out. The team and I spent several nights in the garage since the last race and even reached out for help. And finally, we seemed to figure it out! We're back baby! The 21 GAM team had an all around awesome day yesterday at Colorado National Speedway.
We started the afternoon with two solid practice sets, despite getting cut short in the second for lightening delay. After a brief delay, racing continued and I was able to pull off quick time! It's our 4th quick time of the season, so it felt good to be back in the #1 qualifying spot.
We started the heat race in P5 and managed a P3 finish. It was a good race and the car felt solid. And then the rain came – A 2 hour rain delay... but fear no rain, the 21 GAM team knows how to have a good time. We rushed to get the car into the trailer and packed far too many of us in to stay dry, but we sure do have a good time. Lots of food, a few snacks and we waited out the weather. Before we knew it, racing continued!
It was nearly 11:30 at night and we finally got the 30 lap main event started for GAM. Starting in P3 I was feeling really good, and even though it was a fast field, I knew we had a real shot at taking the win.
The car felt great, and we ended up taking home a P2 finish! I am so proud of a second place finish and really thankful for the team for everything they do to make it happen week after week. A special thank you to Mike and Caleb for all of your help.
