Kicking Off the 2025 Race Season
The 2025 race season kicked off at Colorado National Speedway this past weekend, May 10. The car was strong in the first practice set, and even stronger in the second - fifth and first, respectively. We followed that up with quick time in qualifying, and man, I was feeling good thinking of the evening ahead.
The heat race went okay - we started and finished in 5th place. While I felt that I had the speed, I just couldn't get around anyone, the car was too tight.
We made several changes ahead of the main event and took the green flag, starting from 5th, again. I immediately could tell something wasn't right. I tried to stick it out, and bounced around from 5th to 7th until around lap 10, the oil light came on and it was all over - I rolled into the infield.
Not the way we wanted to end the night - and although we experienced a critical parts failure in the motor, I'm happy to share that, after further inspection, we do not believe it to have been catastrophic. The motor was out of the car the next day and is already at the motor shop - shout out to the guys at Madcap Racing Engines for taking such great care of us.
As I shared in my last post, my long-time friend and 21 GAM crew member, Logan Graybill was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma and Leukemia. We appreciate your continued positive thoughts or prayers for his well-being. It's been a tough road already and a long recovery is ahead.
While I wish I had better news to share with you, I appreciate the support of my family, the 21 race team, our sponsors, and you, our fans. We'll be back soon!
