May 23 Race Recap

May 23 Race Recap

What a night! The 21 Crew and I were really excited heading into the race weekend, off the heels of such a fast car the last race weekend, and needless to say, we had a good time.

Starting off strong, we ran third in the first and second practice sets. We made a couple of changes to the car that I wasn't used to, but we were looking for speed and hoping that the car would handle better through longer lap races. It's a hard thing... knowing how I'm comfortable in the car, but on the flip side, recognizing what should, in theory, make me faster - sometimes they're the same thing and sometimes we have to keep making fine-tune adjustments to find a balance between the two.

A little while later, we qualified second, just .007 behind Cade Fox. Second place qualifying put me starting second in the heat race. It was a good race and I took a second place finish, holding steady through the 10-lap dash. And that's when things got weird. We had an 8 car invert for the main event, putting me starting P7 in the main.

The 30-lap feature was not without excitement and I was able to dodge a handful of on track incidents. We ended up taking home a 6th place finish. We always hope for top 5, and realistically, I had a faster car all afternoon, but sometimes the changes we make just don't quite land, and that's okay. I'm really happy to take home a car in one piece!

The next race is just two weeks away, and I am not sure yet if I'll be able to race it - stay tuned! As always, thanks to the 21 crew and sponsors for the endless support.
