That's A Wrap on Vegas

That's A Wrap on Vegas

I went into this last weekend with the main goal of making the main and finishing without major damage to the car. While the weekend didn't quite go as planned, I'm really proud of doing just what we set out to do.

By Thursday morning, each member of our crew had arrived and we got down to business. Initially practice sessions on Thursday had us in a tough spot, so we made a number of changes to the car looking for speed. Each practice session got a little better but we needed more. By Friday morning, we'd figured out what worked and ultimately qualified 12th that afternoon.

By design, the top 8 qualifiers automatically made it into the main event, so my spot in the A-main was dependent on how I finished in the heat race on Friday evening. I felt confident headed into the heat, but at a track like the Bullring, anything can happen.

We ended up with a second place finish in the heat, which secured my spot in the main event on Saturday. I was really grateful that I didn't need to race my way in from the B-main.

Saturday morning, we had another practice session and I was roughly 11th quick based on practice timing. I started 12th in the 75 lap A-main, and even though I knew competition was strong, I felt good about the speed we'd found through the last several days.

Unfortunately, once we started the main event, I knew something was wrong in the car. It was not handling how it did in earlier sessions and I just couldn't get it to drive how I needed. I quickly fell to the back of the pack, and struggled to keep it together. If I'm being honest, we aren't sure what happened to the car yet. The crew and I will work on disassembling the car during off season to figure out what happened to drastically change the handling.

We ended up with a 20th place finish. We all hoped for a better finish, but there's a lot to be proud of.

We made the main event - and that alone is an accomplishment. Only 26 cars made the show and those 26 are some of the fiercest competition in the class. It's a privilege to be among the top 26 cars. Not only that, but we kept the car in one piece. There were several cars that weren't so lucky this weekend and are taking home wrecked race cars. I'm grateful to say that we only have minor cosmetic damage on the car. And I had some stellar reaction time (if I do say so myself) and missed a few accidents through the race.

All in all, it was a good way to end the 2025 season. We learned a lot this year, and we have a lot of work to do ahead of 2026 but as always, I'm grateful to my family, the 21 crew and the sponsors who made Vegas (and the entire race season) possible.

Thanks for following along this season. Stay tuned for off season updates, and the inside scoop on what we'll get up to next year.
